Electromagnetic yoke “HANDY MAGNA”

To perform magnetic particle inspections conveniently, HANDY MAGNA is an excellent means. Simply contacting magnetic poles directly with inspection objects and applying magnetic particles with the switch held down detects any defects easily. Various types are provided to satisfy inspection requirements.

Portable Electromagnet Yoke

Models

A-1 Standard type. Mainly used for welding. With an universal yoke.
A-2 Small and compact type of A-1 type. Useful for long time inspections. Universal yoke is an option.
A-4 Variable yoke type. Used for multi-purposes and applications.
A-6 Small and compact type of A-4 type.
TE-2 Spot type. Ideal for local inspections and for carrying.
TE-3 Model TE-3 is the best for a turbine blade inspection.

Features

  1. The AC continuous method achieves higher ability to detect any surface defects by the skin effect.
  2. The yoke type, which suppresses a current flowing directly into the tested objects, avoids any possibility of sparking.
  3. Small, compact, and 100V power supply (AC) suitable for portable use.
  4. Yokes allow the user to use HANDY MAGNA for any shape tested objects.
  5. Water-proof switches minimize risks of rare short or shocks to human bodies when wet particles are used.

4-pole electromagnet

Developed specially for inspections on the bottoms of tanks and the welds of pressure vessels. The rotating magnetic field enables the defects in all directions to be detected. Since this type can check for any defect while running, testing performance is improved.

Magnetizing power supply

To meet all of varied needs, a wide range of types are provided from the portable type to the large system.

Portable type

Designed to be small and compact. This type can be carried easily, so it is useful for outside inspections or when the inspection location is undefined.

Thyristor type

Power supply using the thyristor phase control system. This type provides both of AC and DC magnetic outputs, and a built-in AC automatic attenuation demagnetizer (Models SA-50 and 60 provide a DC pole reversing automatic attenuation demagnetizer as well). Suitable for a wide range of applications from prod magnetizing to large automatic systems.

TDF type

This largest-sized type provides both of AC and DC (three-phase full-wave rectification) outputs and a built-in AC automatic attenuation demagnetizer (a DC pole reversing automatic attenuation demagnetizer as well). Mainly used for the surfaces and subsurface inspections of steel materials, large-sized parts, precise parts, etc.

Immersion type

In this type, to perform inspections, the tested materials are immersed into a particle solution. Two types are provided : Model DHS, electrode-pressing type, and Model DHT, clamped type.

Performs inspections of the inspection objects in the longitudinal and circumferential directions simultaneously at one magnetizing operation.

TDF type

In conformance to MIL Standards, designed specially for detecting of aircraft and precise parts.

Demagnetizing power supplies/power units

For complicated-shape parts, it has been very difficult to demagnetize down to 3 gausses or lower so far. This type has overcome such a problem. Combination of a power supply and various types of coils enables the user to select the desired demagnetizing technology.

Demagnetizer

There are many technologies for demagnitization. Encircling coil or box-type demagnetizers are commonly used. With the encircling coil type, demagnetization can be done in several ways satisfying the user’s needs. The box-type is useful for inspections on small-article parts and thin steel sheets.

Test Panels are ideal penetrant sensitivity comparators. Having matched pairs enables studies of the effects of process changes as compared to a standard process, or used material changes vs fresh material. Test panels allow “in use penetrants to be compared against “new, unused” product to determine if the penetrant is performing properly.

How to use Test Panels

  1. Test Panels are used for penetrant-effectiveness testingandjudgmentoftesting process.
  2. ASME Type is used in principle as a pair of test panels separatedto twoportions bytheslit (center line). And the test panel also can be used by cutting-off to twopanels.
  3. Regarding to the penetrant-effectiveness testing, two kinds of penetrant materials to be compared shall be respectively applied to the pair of test panels separated by the center slit. And tested underthesameconditionforthe comparisonofthe effectiveness.
  4. For the judgment of testing process, the same penetrantmaterial shall be applied to the two test panels, and tested respectively by the different processfor thecomparisonof the testingprocess.
  5. One test panel should be used in common for testing of dye penetrant suspension and testing of fluorescent penetrant suspension.
